Raising Alaskans
An inside look at raising children in Juneau, Alaska
Alaskan Winter Baby Must-Haves
If you're not from Juneau, you may not know that Alaska's capital city is in America's largest National Forest and the world's largest temperate rainforest - The Tongass National Forest… Living in this climate brings unique challenges for everyone who resides here; add a baby and first-time parents to the mix, and you have a whole new set of rules to figure out. Luckily, my partner, Jito, and I are both from Juneau and have just over a year of experience as Alaskan parents. Check out Hunter’s top 5 products for exploring Alaska with babies during the winter.
Stroller Friendly Trails Part 3; Auke Lake Hiking Trail
Auke Lake is one of my favorite stroller-friendly trails. It’s easy to get to, has ample parking, and tends to be quiet on weekday mornings. The views of the lake, surrounding mountains, and forest are breathtaking
Stroller Friendly Trails Part 2; Eagle River Landing Trail/ Amalga Cabin
I was able to snag a weeknight reservation for the Amalga Cabin, Juneau's newest and possibly nicest public rental cabin…It was the perfect mix of seclusion and accessibility for us. We're still learning how not to overpack when it comes to traveling with a baby. Luckily this trail was kind to us and made it easy to get it all out there.
